I've been too tired to go online much lately. I got off work today at 2 and promptly went home and crashed- not that it did much good. I had to babysit this evening. Usually the kid I babysit for is an angel, but tonight was such a pain. He cried and screamed for two hours straight. I had to lock the dog away because it kept getting kicking the the face by the flailing kid (dumb dog had no sense of self preservation). He yelled at me while I was getting dinner, kept turning the TV back on while I was trying to put him to bed, and got mad at me for mispronouncing words while reading him a story (hey, it's not my fault I don't know french). It was definitely the most trying babysitting experience I've had.

I went to the pool yesterday for the first time this summer! It was amazing to finally get some sun and go into the water.

Before and after the pool shots. I'm the paler one. She's already been to the beach and had time to work up a tan.

Movies:
-Almost Famous: Watched with my friend right after going to the pool. I can't believe I had never seen this movie before! I loved it! First off, it has an amazing cast: Kate Hudson, Frances McDormand (who I now love even more after Miss Pettigrew), Jason Lee, Zooey Deschanel, Billy Crudup, Anna Paquin, Phillip Seymour Hoffman.... Kate Hudson was perfect for the role.
-The Virgin Suicides: I wasn't so impressed with this movie. Normally I'm not a big Kirsten Dunst fan- usually I can't stand her. I actually almost liked her in this movie. It was the story I couldn't stand. I don't like movies/books/whatever where I can't figure out the character's motivations. Why were the boys obsessed with the girls? Why did the girls commit suicide? And what where the "puzzle pieces" and "evidence" they kept talking about? It was a suicide, not a homicide.

Currently reading:
This is mostly for the other romance fan on my f-list, but I'm currently reading Loretta Chase's Your Scandalous Ways. I'll probably be posting a review of it on
romancenovelssome time in the rext few days. I also got a copy of Johanna Lindsey's Surrender My Love from a friend- '90s cover art. Be afraid. Be very afraid. I'm going to see if I can find I way to scan the cover. It reveals the secret of where furry boots really do come from...

Disaster

Canoeing in Pennsylvania was the ultimate disaster. The river was less than 10 inches deep, a fact the rental store failed to mention, and our canoe weighed over 700 pounds. My parents and I abandoned the canoe after about four hours of getting stuck on the rocks every other moment- we had only traveled about three miles in that whole time. It was ridiculous. I got to stay in town the next day while my parents went to get the canoe (we had left it in the river- there wasn't any real risk of it floating down stream). It wasn't much of an improvement though. First off, there was nobody my age could find. Guys younger than me were all walking around with their hunting gear on. The women had facial hair. No joke. Serious stubble. I was sitting the the park where two old men were having a five minute discussion on the probability of rain. All the shop windows had signs saying "support our troops" and advertising something called a "jesus concert". It was so stereotypical.

On a slightly depressing note, I realized today that five people had un-friended me. It's understandable though considering I've been so busy I haven't been commenting as much as I would have liked.

In the end this past week has been fairly movie centric- again.
1. Wall-e: An absolute must see. It was amazing! I love it and now have and extreme soft spot for curious robots. It's a bit heavy handed in it's message to take care of the Earth, but it's still enjoyable for all ages.
2. Ever After: No matter how many times I see this movie, I still love it. Possible one of the only roles I think Drew Barrymore did an okay job in. And the dresses make me very very happy.
3. Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day: I finally understand what visualthinker11was saying about Lee Pace... I liked Amy Adams in this even more than in Enchanted. One of those great life lessons movies that doesn't beat you over the head too much.

I just picked my top choices for tutorial next year, but I don't think I'm going to get my first choice because I waited until five days before the deadline. Bad D.L.

Anywhoo, I leave tomorrow morning to go on a canoe trip with my parents. We're driving up to Pennsylvania and then traveling down river about 60 miles. I think it's there way of saying they're going to miss me. As much as I love canoeing, I'm totally doing this for them. I'd much rather be at the beach with friends, or since that's not happening, at least trying to earn money working more hours. I guess I should cut my parents some slack since their only child is about to leave home.

My boss/work schedule is really starting to piss me off. I told him I want to work as much as possible- full time, or at least as many hours as he can give me. Instead I'm losing hours. Second off, I gave him all the dates I'm going to be out of town, and those are all the days he goes and schedules me for! At first I thought it was just a miscommunication, and that he thought those were the days I could work (yes, there are only 5 days in all of June when I can work), but really I don't think he paid much attention. As far as employees go, I'm fairly expendable. So for this whole pay period, I'll only have clocked 30 hours. How the hell am I going to pay for college at this rate?!

With all this free time and absolutely no drive to do anything productive, I've been watching tons of movies- rentals, borrows, things I catch on TV. Here's a top three for the past two days:
1. Brokeback Mountain: Loan from the wonderful deathonavespa. I can't believe I hadn't seen this before now. It was utterly beautiful. Unfortunately someone had told me how it ended way before I watched it, but I still loved it.
2. Joyeux Noel: Rented with a friend. Recommend to all history buffs. It's about the 1914 Christmas cease fire. It's a drama and could be considered a war film, but it's more character and dialog driven and there are no epic battle scenes.
3. Marty: Caught it on tv. Classic film about an Italian guy who meets a woman who he gets a long with but neither his mother or friends like. It's a wonderful story about falling for someone and standing up for yourself- a "feel good" film.

Death on a Vespa has my heart

Wohoo! After much nudging, deathonavespa is finally on lj! Just spent the evening with her discussing Twilight and watching Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire just for the Robert Pattinson scenes. Er... yea. Much fangirling occurred.

I had to spend most of today at an outdoor potluck/field day, which really pissed me off. First off, I had potlucks. People rarely bring good food and if they do it either gets swarmed or destroyed by the sun. Surprisingly the food was ok. I managed to find four or five dishes I liked. But the heat was a killer. I went through three or four water bottles in two hours and still got a heat headache. Bleh. I also hate outdoor sports (flag football... not my thing), and turned into a first degree bitch by the end of the day.

I also broke the news to my parents that I'm thinking about getting my eyebrow pierced. To say the least, they didn't take it so well. At least it's not like my tattoo- I didn't even warn my parents about that. My mom said she's accepted the piercing if I swore never to smoke again. I told her I'd consider it, but I doubt I'll take that one up. I think it's worse to make a promise you don't think you can keep. So I guess I'll be getting my piercing and my parents won't be looking at my face for a few days...

this is amazing!

I got a call today from a lady at my credit union saying I won the scholarship I applied for! Yay! That's another $1,500 off expenses. She conducted a mini interview with me and asked stuff like, "how will this help you achieve your academic goals" and "why did you join the credit union". She seemed to really like my answers. I have to go in next Monday for a publicity shot with the other 3 recipients.

//funny work story/ mini rant//

As I mentioned before, I'm currently a cashier. Not the greatest job, but it pays and is flexible. Normally I'm pretty good with math, but after a while numbers do tend to run together. This prissy old lady comes in (do ya get the feeling I don't like her?) and her total comes to $8.99. She gives me a $20 and then offers to give me a penny. I do a sudden double take and look somewhat confused. She sighs heavily and says, "That's okay, you obviously don't know what to do." Okay, granted, I shouldn't have looked at her funny, but I was really busy, and her offer threw me for a loop, not because I can't calculate the change in my head, but because wtf would she want to give me a penny? Her change is already $11.01. Giving me a penny would just make me give her two pennies back. Four pennies would maybe be useful for giving her change, but not one. I just gave her here change- the eleven dollars and one penny. That's okay lady, you obviously don't know what to do.

//end rant//

I'm working again. Wohoo. Except not. I got back the same job as a cashier at a tex mex fast food chain that I had all during junior year, and I had loved it then. I thought it was the best job in the world (for a teen). Now I'm... bored. I hate my job. Grrr. I think it was before I had no life. Thus my job gave me a purpose. But now I have I life, and I need this job to pay for it! There is so much irony it that.

I had an 8 hour shift today, which isn't so bad. I just think of it as school where I have to stand all day, smile at strangers, and can't take naps. On the plus side I'm paid and don't have to take any tests or do homework. Today was the first day ever someone has asked to see the manager (who also happened to be the owner) because of me. It was over the stupidest thing, too. You can "combo" an entree with chips and a drink for 1.99. A drink alone is 1.58. Chips alone a 1.69. A large drink is 2.01. We do not have a combo for a large drink. To get chips and a large drink, you would have to pay for the chips (1.69) and the large drink (2.01). The lady wanted a chips and a large drink, but was pissed at me for charging so much because we do not have a "large combo". As she put it, "even McDonalds has different size combos". Wtf. If you wanted to go to McDonalds, why didn't you just go there? I hate when people get mad at you AND make no sense. I probably could have explained it to her better if she wasn't so busy staring at me like I was a moron. Hello... I work there. I think I know the menu. My boss didn't end up talking to me about it so I can only assume he's not upset.

Now that it's summer and I (theoretically) have free time, I feel like I should get back to working on my HDM fanfic. It kind of got abandoned, with so many other things, in the sweep of exams, and then all my computer files are now either locked, deleted, or trapped.

Also relating to HDM, I got my tutorial course list for next year, and I found the course I want to take! "Literature, Intertextuality, and Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials". It sounds so neat. The course covers Milton's Paradise Lost and William Blake's poetry, which Pullman has cited as major sources for the series, and discusses narration, medium and readership. Speaking of readership- go read this article on Smart Bitches. It's about books and age banding, and quotes Pullman. It's very interesting.

semi-hiatus

I'll be going on semi-hiatus for the next few weeks. I have a new laptop (yay!). I got a red Dell Inspiron 1525, and it makes me very happy. The only problem is it currently has almost no memory (making me not so happy) and is therefore running very very slowly. We've ordered the larger memory cards and the software from Dell (currently it only has Vista Home Basic, yikes!), but the order will take between 2-4 weeks to process and ship. Until then my post and comments won't be as frequent. Hopefully I can find a working computer to use as well.

I've now seen Prince Caspian four times in the theater. Oh yea! And you know what movie I'm going to be buying when it comes out on dvd? Prince Caspian! Do you know what movie you all should go see? Prince Caspian! Can anyone guess my current obsession? Prince Caspian! Yea, I was never one for being subtle. I'm going through this intense Narnia fanfiction stage right now. Any fanfic recommendations?

I have a job for the summer as a cashier, but my boss isn't really giving me many hours. My dad's all freaking out on me about "didn't he say he'd give you full time work" and "why aren't you getting more hours, you need to be saving money. you never save money." Um, yea, I do save money, just not the percent he seems to think I should be saving. I'm 18, I don't earn enough to save much. Anyway, I don't know how to tell him there is no way I'll be working full time over the summer. There are only 3 or 4 people who actually work there full time, and most people who work there work two jobs because they can't get enough hours. Guh. But I like the job, and I don't want to spend my whole summer working.

Death of A Computer

My computer gave out on me. It just failed completely. It won't even start up now. I can't figure out if it's because of the virus or if there is a problem with the monitor itself. Grrr. Hopefully this will speed up me getting my new laptop. Either way, graduation pictures will not be posted today.

I have gotten my grandmother to start reading romance novels, which I think is the funniest thing ever. I keep over a hundred romance novels in my room, and my grandma happened to pick up The Viscount Who Loved Me by Julia Quinn. Thank god it was that and not a Harlequin Blaze... My mom was in shock- apparently she has never sees her mother reading. My grandma liked the book so much she's already started Romancing Mr. Bridgerton, which is my favorite in the series. I know a lot of other people who have read the series don't feel the same way, but I have such a soft spot for Colin and Penelope. With how well my Grandma is doing, I'm thinking of giving her copies of The Duke and I and An Offer From a Gentleman. One of the first romances I've ever read is actually the one in her guest room. I don't remember the title of it- it's something about pirates, an English lord and a girl named Jewel. I read it ever time I stay with her. I'll remember to write down the title next time I visit her in Vancouver.

Speaking of romances, now that it's summer and exams are over, I have time to read them again! If you want to see what (romances) I'm reading, feel free to friend me on Goodreads. And I'd love to hear book recommendations from my f-list, romance or otherwise.

time goes on

I lost power for almost 24 hours, which was horrible last night because we couldn't run the ac and the whole house was sweltering. There had been torando warnings all through southern Maryland yesterday when my mom, grandma, and I got stuck in this really bad storm. We were stranded at a pizza parlour until the wind died down. When we got home we found the power had gone out and two trees had split and fallen on our street alone. I don't think I've ever seen that strong a storm come and go that quickly.

I graduate tomorrow! I had to go to graduation rehearsal today which was a total pain. They made us sit down, stand up, walk in and out in a single file line what felt like a hundred times before they realized they had us in the wrong order and made us start over. Afterward my friend and I tried to go to the senior class picnic, but we got so lost. First we drove ten minutes in one direction, then ten minutes in the other, before finally discovering someone had given us bad directions (we were looking for Riffleford Rd not Richardson. Wtf? They don't even sound alike, haha). When we finally got to the park we ended up at the pavillion of some corporate event- definitely not our group. We ended up sitting in the grass reading our yearbooks until we realized there was another pavillion over the hill. By the time we finally walked over there, everyone was leaving, which sucked because it was 3pm and I still hadn't eaten anything that day... gah. So in the end I've decided no one will be signing my yearbook because I'd rather have no signatures than five signatures from people I don't care about and there isn't going to be another senior event.

I did get to start opening graduation gifts this evening. My mom's boss, who I love and have babysat for since her son was an infant, gave me a Tiffany's bracelet! I must have done something right watching her kid, haha. No, really though, she is probably one of the most awesome women I know, and I'm going to wear the bracelet tomorrow so I can show her it in pictures. Yay for amazing people in my life!

I went to go see Prince Caspian... again. I took my grandma with me this time. She said it was the first movie she had gone to in years, and she really enjoyed it (who wouldn't?!). I think
skandarfans and narnia_slash rule my life right now. This picture, most amazing thing ever:

I still can't get over how well done the sword-play was. And the armour is to die for. I want that red velet! With the gold lion! I think my blood pressure just went up thinking about how awesome that movie was. I might go see it one more time, just so I can say it's the movie I saw the most times while still in the theater (currently PoTC holds that honor). If anyone wants to recommend fics (slash or otherwise) or send me picspam (*nods vigorously*), please do so!

She's Gone Crazy

OMG, two memes in one night!? Am I losing my mind? Quite possibly, but either way, on to the meme:

1. Reply to this post and I'll assign you a letter.
2. List (and upload, if you feel like it) 5 songs that start with that letter.
3. Post them to your journal with these instructions.

domluver was nice enought to give me the letter L after I realized I only had three song for the letter J:
-Last Train Home- Lostprophets
-Leaving Hogwarts- John Williams (yes, I have the HP soundtrack on my Ipod)
-Lithium- Nirvana
-Look What You've Done- Jet
-Lose Yourself- Eminem

Is it just me, or do those songs have nothing in common?

It's All Over But The Shouting

That's it. I'm done. High school is officially over for me. The only thing left is to actually walk across the stage at graduation. I feel like I should be more emotional right now but I'm sort of in a state of shock. Or maybe it's just apathy.

I had to go in for 45 minutes today, which was pretty pointless. My history teacher had us all write some essay about what conclusions can we make about history from the course (it was a two year course). It was a pretty long "uhhhh...." moment for me. I ended up writing some b.s. paragraph about its cyclical nature and revolutions. The girl in front of me wrote almost two pages. Luckily the thing wasn't graded. Then my teacher went on to give a lecture on the fallacies of youth, which was even more depressing. The main one that stuck with me was how time is our most precious commodity, probably because then I started to feel really guilty about all the time I waste on lj and reading fanfiction. After this I'll probably go and try to do something productive like trying to clean my room...

Graduation Present

I just found out what my graduation gift from my aunt is- a kindle!

She shipped it to me now, but my mom won't let me play with it until I finish my senior projects (grrr) which is driving me crazy. I really want to touch it. I'm still going to keep most by books in paper format, but still, a kindle! Yay!

Update: Sorry, for those of you who don't know what a kindle is, look here.

Random Junk

Because my last few posts have been so depressing, here's some stuff to make everyone laugh.

Apparently the Catholic Church was obsessed with sex during the Middle Ages. Big shock, right? What I didn't know was that they had set penances for specific posistions which were "too pleasurable" and therefore "sinful". Here's some examples of the punishments:

Dorsal sex (woman on top): three years
Lateral, seated, standing: 40 days
Coitus retro — rear entry: 40 days
Mutual masturbation: 30 days
Inter-femural sex — ejaculation between the legs: 40 days
Coitus in terga — anal sex: three years (with an adult); two years (with a boy); seven years (habitual); 10 years (with a cleric)

So know you know, if you get caught doing a little what-what-in-the-butt, have it be with a boy, not your wife. It's friggin' hilarious. Seriously, go read the whole thing at http://www.thesmartset.com/article/article05190801.aspx.

"By the 1400s, it seems, the Church had to give up on such detailed analyses, possibly because the congregation was beginning to get ideas."

Yes, they probably did.

<div class="ljcut" text="Found them?
This is so frustrating!

Thanks for all the well wishes from everyone. I think it has infused some strength in me. I managed to go to class for an hour to drop stuff off and I almost felt decent. Though I paid for it later when my fever shot back up and I started shivering until my lips turned a violent shade of blue...=/ My temp is still up but I feel fine for some reason. I really want to feel better because I just got my job back and my boss put me on the schedule for Sunday from 12 to 8.

I'm sorry to everyone that I haven't been commenting on your journals. I feel neglectful. As soon as I'm out of bed for longer periods of time I'll try to start commenting again- with a vengeance.

I have so much shit to do tonight. I have two film studies projects due tomorrow (huge) and two spanish essays (the only things that can save my grade). The film stuff is going to take sooo much time. I really don't want to do it, but I know if I don't I'll fail that class. And I really don't want to do the spanish essays, though I doubt they'll take nearly as long. The assignment just doesn't make any sense.

//rant//

Despite my fever/nausea/muscle pain, I got up last night to work on my comparative religions paper on Jainism, which is due tomorrow, but I wanted to see if I could hand it in today, along with two overdue assignment. The only reason that I chose to do that assignment early, rather than the others, is because my comparative religions teacher scares the shit out of me. No joke. He has reduced me to tears twice this quarter alone. He is perhaps the most snarky (in the bad sense), miserable person I have ever meet. So, of course, when I tried to give him the paper today, he wouldn't accept it, chastised me for my poor attendance, and said I had no respect for his class because I didn't do any of the work and because it was not an IB/AP class. Yes, I did miss two assignments, but that is not all of the work in that class. It's not even a quarter. I'll still get a B even if I never turn those in. I just want to turn them in on principle. Ironically, if you do look at my IB/AP classes, I'm usually missing more that two assignments. The only reason I do his work is because he SCARES THE SHIT OUT OF ME. He also takes all my absences as a personal offense which I don't get because a) I can't help if I have a weak immune system b) and he admits he skipped most of his senior year! WTF?!

//end rant//

Education Can Be So Ironic

I took my AP Macroeconomic test this morning, and think there's a chance I might have even scored a 4. I find this incredibly hilarious considering a) I haven't taken that class since last semester b) I almost failed that class and c) I probably studied for a grand total of 5 hours. On the other hand, it's likely that I'm going to get a 1 on my AP Stat, but that's probably because my teacher baby's me and I haven't done an iota of work this year. I don't think I've even passed a single test this semester. I truly am an apathetic and horrible student. I have no idea why my teachers don't hate me. I barely do any assignments, and then I turn them all in on the day before the quarter ends. Senioritis has fully taken hold of me- my mom is panicking that I won't graduate. But of course I will. I'll squeak by like I always do. I'll actually start doing stuff in college, but that's a different story.

The really ironic part is that even after doing all this, I'm still going to one of the nation's top small liberal arts colleges- and on a full tuition scholarship. WTF? I don't even get it. I think the only reason my friends and the students around me don't hate my guts is that their going to the Ivies or somewhere just as good.

Head to Wall, Now Repeat

Ever get that feeling that "oh, shit, I'm about to regret this" and then you go and do it anyway? Yea, the story of my life. I should write a post dedicated to all the misconceptions I have about guys, relationships and life in general based on my and my friends experiences. It would be enlightening.

On the upside I have a prom dress! It's a black knee-length dress that makes me think of the 1940's and Lauren Becall- I love it! It's not "prom" at all but it's completely me. I was standing in the dressing room trying to decide between two dresses (one that was "prom" and the one that was "me") and I was like, "Fuck that!" Last year I made my own prom dress out of camo because my boyfriend was militant, and I spent most the evening wishing I was in anything else. I LOVE my dress this year. Moral of the story: Fuck the guy- be yourself.

Update (five minutes later):

I've decided to try to add a picture, and here's what I managed:

Unfortunately, since the dress is all black, it just sort of looks like one big lump, and I couldn't manage to get a shot of me in the dress because my walls (which really are that shade of red) were messing with the white balance of my camera. In the end I guess I'm just going to have to wait a week to get a good picture of it. It looks way better on me than it does on the hanger.

I did Paper 3 of Euro History this morning- and promptly proceeded to try to block the entire experience from my mind. I finished over half an hour early and ended up leaving the exam to wait in Starbucks with two of my friends while everyone else finished their essays. Apparently if you finish early it means you haven't written enough, but I really didn't think anything new was going to come to me by staring at the paper. All I ask is that I didn't humiliate myself, which I'm pretty sure I didn't. Two of my essays were just statements of facts and the third was a complete b.s. theoretical essay, but I think it all evens out in the end.

After exams I went to the mall to look at prom dresses. Prom is less than a week away and I still need a dress! *smacks forehead* I'm not too picky when it comes to dresses and I always manage to find one, I just find speed-prom-dress-shopping to be such a depressing experience. I was alone so there was way more self-deprecation the necessary going on. At this point in the game, all the dresses are reaching the $300 and up range, which I'm not willing to pay. However, I did find a sexy little black dress in Lord and Taylor which was under $200. It wasn't "prom", but I liked it, and I think it might work. I'm taking my mom there tomorrow to see if I can get her to buy it for me.

I'm exam-free until Monday morning, meaning I'll be (trying to) study for the next few days. I don't think I'd survive very long as a wild animal- my stress response (fight-or-flight) is just to fall asleep. I'm sure I would have been eaten by now. Good luck to everyone else taking exams!!!

One Down

... I don't even want to think about how many I have left.

Today was my IB English Paper 1 (bleh). I survived though. I think I might have actually done ok, as in not humiliating myself. Tomorrow afternoon is History Papers 1 and 2. They're making us take them in the friggin' auditorium. The desks in there are the size of a dinner plate. This really pisses me off since History is the exam I already know I'm going to have problems on. I'm debating if I should study some more for history this afternoon (which I should), or if I should write that paper which is due tomorrow (which I also should do). I also need to work on my resume. I probably should just kick myself for leaving everything off until the last moment...

deus ex machina

Fate has intervened.

Despite my grand total of four hours of sleep in the past forty eight hours, I was feeling generally good today and after school decided to ignore my body's need for sleep and my growing piles of late assignments and studying for social activities. I stayed at school to watch "El Mar Adentro", which is a wonderful, powerful, and emotional film which I had never seen before and loved watching. I strongly recommend it. I then spent over an hour transporting amps from my friends ex's house to where there was going to be a party tonight, and (against all better judgment) decided to attend said party.

It goes without saying [sleep deprivation + lack of food + alcohol + smoke + hookah+ other inhalants] or any other combination of these elements = not good. Luckily, fate decided to intervene. I wasn't dumb enough to fuck myself up after having pulled almost two all-nighters in a row. By the time my friend's ex's band had finished playing, I was bored out of my mind. I left by 10:30.

It's a good thing I did, because an hour later, THE PARTY WAS BUSTED BY THE COPS. My friend texted me after she had ran away and hopped a fence. Eventually tonight she'll have to go back to get her car.

If I hadn't been so exhausted, I wouldn't have gotten so bored, and then I would have been caught at a party busted by the cops.So there it is- proof that fate exists.

Yet Another Wonderful All Nighter

It's just starting to get light outside and I just finished my history outlines 20 minutes ago- and that's without even trying to do a good job. Bleh. If anyone is about to take a Euro exam and wants a crap-tastic outline on [Russia (1924-1953), Mussolini, Lenin, "Causes, Course and Effects of WWI and Characteristics of Total Warfare", Origins of the Cold War (1943-1949), Spanish Civil War, Napoleon (1799-1815), Italian Unification (1848-1870), German Unification (1848-1871)] just let me know. They're outlines, so the information is extremely condensed. The only good thing about this project is that it made me get off my lazy ass and start studying. I don't know how much it will help though since the exam is less than a week away.

Today is my last day of actual classes! Wohoo! I'm "off" for the next two weeks for AP/IB tests, but I guess I'll have to spend that time studying (since I obviously haven't done that before now). Then one week of showing up to pointless classes where we do nothing, then graduation.

Go class of '08!!!

So, I stayed up almost all of last night to do this stupid history project where I had to write 9 different outlines of time periods/events that might pop up on next weeks IB Euro exam. Personally, I don't study with outlines. They don't really do anything for me. Sometimes I make lists, especially of things I know I'm going to forget. Anyway, the assignment sheet said 1-2 page outlines, which sounds reasonable for an outline. However, my 1-2 page outlines were apparently too short. As my teacher informed me, most students are doing 3 pages at least, even 3 pages front and back. If that what he had wanted, he should have just said that so I could have gone and started REWRITING THE WHOLE FRIGGIN' TEXT BOOK!!!

**end of rant**

Other than studying my life is so dull right now. I haven't read a romance in 3 weeks (haha, and yes this is bothering me). I did get out of the house last Friday though and went hiking by the Potomac with my friend, her boyfriend, and his friends. I was in flip flops though so it was pretty funny.

Less than a month until graduation!

I think I might actually have correctly set up an lj layout! You must be thinking, "BFD, the stylesheet wasn't even yours..." but seriously, you have never seen me around a computer. It's not a pretty sight. I finally even figured out a header!
stylesheet by refuted
banner by princessbloomy
